Electronic signatures and identity: the public consultation on the EU
Yesterday the European Commission has launched a new public consultation on electronic signatures and identification .
In fact, it is a step announced already at the time of the ' Digital Agenda and aimed to amend the current Directive on Electronic Signatures of 1999 and that is precisely the Directive 1999/93/EC . Those who follow these matters, however, knows that this is a topic on the Commission is particularly concerned, given that dates back to 2008, the ' Action Plan on Electronic Signatures and eID, 28.11.2008 that - fundamentally connected with the directive of the services market internal (Directive 2006/123/EC) - however, assumes considerable importance for the qualification of electronic signatures. Grid computers as an aid to scientific research
Today 's Stampa.it published an article entitled " Against the shortage of water scientists asking for help to the Web . " The news about the " World Computer Grid "which is a" mission is to create the world's largest public computing grid to tackle projects That benefit humanity "(a mission to create the largest grid computer system to tackle projects that benefit humanity ). The article did mention that he speaks of "emergency water", but it is not the only project of the WCG because there are several others.
What is thought? To address scientific projects of a certain magnitude is necessary to have computers that have considerable computing power, so scientists have thought to ask for support to e-cytizen that they can use for their computers. The user wishing to collaborate on the project must register and then download to your computer agent software (available for all platforms: Windows, Mac and Linux) that work by interacting with servers in the WCG. In this way, ie through the operation of multiple computers, you can increase the computing power of machines and speed up the WCG projects. The system operation is described in this document in English .
Among the partners of the WCG's the giant IBM.
In this time of this writing there are 1,596,090 523,122 partners for grid-connected devices.
At this point the usual questions, but be sure to download a software WCG on my computer? There will be no invasion of privacy? My personal data will be effectively protected?
From what emerges from the privacy and security policies seems that there is no risk to the user.
The initiatives of the computer grid is certainly technically tested and active projects are certainly deserving of attention.
CASPAR: how to preserve digital heritage, for the indefinite future
The digital heritage will be preserved for the future.
What does all this mean? E 'was also carried out a program called CASPAR (an acronym for Cultural, Artistic and Scientific knowledge for Preservation, Access and Retrieval - Conservation, access and retrieval of cultural knowledge, artistic and scientific), which was attended, among others, Italy (in addition to the czech Republic, France, Greece, Israel, and the United Kingdom), which ended with the creation of an open source software that allows you - as is clear from the press release from the European Commission - the "preserve the data stored in digital format and provide access and understanding for the indefinite future."
The project, implemented under the F6P (Sixth Framework Programme 1001-2006), has received an EU grant of 8.8 million. And 'no doubt the benefit of the project in question, given that technological change involves radical changes in terms of software and hardware resources often prevent the use of consultation and data that were generated and / or treated with no more tools available. The object of the CASPAR program to ensure it is for the indefinite future the possibility of use of the digital heritage and consultation.
Quoted in the press release reads:
The European Commissioner for the Digital Agenda and Commission Vice-President Neelie Kroes said: "Digital information is extremely valuable and vulnerable. Anyone who has tried unsuccessfully to gain access to old family photos or documents knows the frustration that comes from the incompatibility of technologies. For this reason I am excited about the potential of tools and techniques to ensure future CASPAR high data quality and access to them. "
Being open source software, the same can be "downloaded free and used for the development of other commercial applications." The resource is available at this URL: http://sourceforge.net/projects/digitalpreserve/files/
A final notation: the CASPAR project has ended with a resource open source will be a case, or the European Commission have recognized the importance of 'open source?
GMail introduces the priorities in your inbox
Google has introduced, but the service is not yet available, the function of the priority in the inbox of GMail. In essence, the system recognizes, through a series of filters, such as email becomes more relevant to present it in a folder reserved for ad-hoc priority. As you can see from the video that was made, the system is very flexible because you can move emails that are not classified as a priority in the other sections as well as label the other as a priority or special (with the yellow star). Here is the video, looking forward to see this new feature in our Gmail.

Internet of Things and NFC
The phenomenon of the 'Internet of Things is not connected to a single technology, but to any technological resource that permits the transfer of data at a distance. The best known and most widely used technology is known by the acronym RFID (Radio Frequency Identification).
However, there is another technology, known by its acronym, NFC (Near Field Communication), through which the phenomenon occurs IOT (Internet of Things).
The video below (taken from YouTube) describes very clearly the NFC and some uses of the same.
In any case, is the internet of things!
Enjoy it.
