System administrators: clarification of the Guarantor

The Data Protection Commissioner has published this morning a document containing details on the figure of the system administrators whose provisions come into force on 15 December.

In essence, the details are as follows:

  • The provisions cover only those persons who, in dealing with personal information by computer, they must use or have used the professional system administrator or an equivalent figure.
  • requirements do not apply, however, also subject to those of association, which usually come with the computer systems of modest size and limited and not particularly complex, they can do without a professional specifically dedicated to system administration or otherwise have decided not to use it.
